Do I need a Lawyer for a Virginia DUI:  Patricia Head Minaldi is a United States District Court Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.   Judge Minaldi was stopped by Lake Charles, Louisiana police in 2014 and initially charged for having an open alcoholic beverage in her vehicle and then for driving while intoxicated (DWI).  Police indicated that she crossed the center line several times.  The Officer followed her home and ordered her to exit the motor vehicle.  Police alleged that she refused to stop prior to reaching her own driveway.  Judge Minaldi requested upper management to discuss her situation.  The officers showed great patience with Judge Minaldi which may not have been accorded to someone who was not a sitting federal district court judge.  From her responses and her voice, Judge Minaldi appeared to speak like someone under the influence of intoxicants or like someone very tired.

Do I need a Lawyer for a Virginia DUI:  Judge Minaldi subsequently entered a guilty plea to DWI and received a deferred sentence with a fine and probably loss of license as prescribed by statute.  Judge Minaldi subsequently took an indefinite leave of absence.
